About Tallon Mortuary Specialists

Tallon Mortuary Specialists are family owned and operated facilities. Glyn Tallon, the founder of Tallon Mortuary Specialists is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, a licensed Embalmer and a fully qualified Reconstructive Specialist.

Glyn studied embalming at the Belfast College of Embalming in Northern Ireland. He received the British Institute of Embalmer´s Certificate and became a member of the European Association of Embalmers in 2000.

Whilst studying embalming, he obtained an Anatomical Pathology Technologist Certificate in 1999. Glyn also attended an intensive course in Anatomical Pathology and was awarded a diploma in Anatomical Pathology in 2002 by Southampton University in conjunction with the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene. Since then, he is the Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologist at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland.

Glyn became a member of the Global Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) in 2002. He attended a mass fatality symposium organised by State Pathologist Office in Dublin in 2005.

Glyn’s dedication to his profession as an embalmer and his desire to master the advanced techniques in embalming enrolled him in the Fountain National Academy of Professional Embalming Skills (FNA) in Missouri, USA.

The FNA was founded by Mr. Vernie Fountain in May 1990. It provides highly specialised embalming and reconstructive teaching techniques for Professional Embalmers from all over the world. Glyn’s involvement with the FNA began in 2000 and since then, he attended series of courses, seminars and workshops on “Embalming Skills”, “Soft Tissue Injuries, “Waxing and Airbrush Cosmetics” and “Advanced Post Mortem Reconstructive Surgery”.

In 2002, Glyn together with Mr. Dorian Harries, a colleague and a fellow Embalmer from the UK, had accumulated 100 contact hours of a highly specialised reconstructive work and were the first two embalmers in the world to complete this prestigious curriculum. They both accepted the positions as European Representatives for Fountain National Academy.

Glyn regularly participates in delivering lectures and hands on seminars offered by the FNA Headquarters at Springfield, Missouri, USA. He acts as a guest Lecturer on the subject of Embalming and Reconstructive Surgery and a Lab Assistant in the Embalming and Reconstructive Surgery Laboratory.

In 2007, Glyn became a member of the American Society of Embalmers and a member of the Blake Emergency Services, a Disaster Team which responds to mass fatality incidents all over the world. He regularly attends international response training days, designated to mass disaster body recovery.

In 2009, Glyn was awarded the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. Glyn is the first recipient of this designation in Ireland.

Glyn promotes education services within the profession of Embalming. He was asked by Mr. Ray Hood, a Specialist in home study courses, to participate in delivering embalming courses in Ireland.

Today, Glyn Tallon is a well known embalmer and reconstructive specialist all over Ireland. He is committed to provide a dignified, professional and a first class service to bereaved families during their most difficult times of their lives.
